After the murder of George Floyd, protests took place across the country including outside the White House. After protesters were removed from Lafayette Square with tear gas and rubber bullets, a fence was erected on H Street, barricading that public land. This fence became a makeshift memorial where people left signs, balloons, flags, flowers and other mementos to honor the victims of racism and police brutality. When White House officials planned to remove the fence, preservation experts at the National Park Service and the Smithsonian wanted a photographic record. The National Park Service also wanted photographs of the fence for communications purposes

Portraits of Honor

Created a short-form documentary following a group of community leaders working to restore the Historic Pickensville Rosenwald School in rural Southwest Alabama.

“We have to save this building, it means just that much to us. And our ancestors put so much time, effort, money, everything into getting this building, we cannot let them down. We have to show them how much we appreciate what they did for us and that we pass that appreciation onto our children.”

Coleman Center for the Arts

"I like that this space, the Coleman Center, is kind of arguing that really relevant, really interesting, really risky, innovative things can happen anywhere, but they are happening here.”
